The Best Mind and Body Workout

If you would have asked me my thoughts on Yoga 5 years ago I would have shrugged my shoulders and said that stretching doesn’t seem like much of a workout! My mind quickly changed after my first yoga class and I have been a true lover ever since. I started my practice with hot yoga at Moksha Yoga and totally fell in love.  Not only is this workout amazing for your body but its even more amazing for your mind!

I am sharing with you my fav yoga programs in studio and at home!

If you like the heat, I highly recommend that you try a hot yoga class.  It is a great class for both beginners and those more advanced.  The community you find when you walk into a studio is so amazing.  No one judges you for what you are wearing, how long you have practised for, if you can stand on your head or if you need to just sit on your mat.  The acceptance and encouragement is something I truly love!  Plus, you literally sweat your butt off!  Moksha is a set sequence of yoga poses and allows you to get comfortable with the poses.   Although it is repetitive in nature, it allows you to challenge yourself more each time you go.  I am by no means a yoga guru or perfect at each pose but I find myself adjusting and getting better each time I practice.

The biggest thing I have learned from yoga is that I can control my mind, which in turn means I can control my body.  This has helped me so much in life and has taught me new skills to get through stressful moments.

My lifestyle has changed and between working full time, momming, blogging and just plain living that it has been difficult to get to a yoga studio on a regular basis.   I did not, however, want to give up on my practice.  I quickly found a fav online yoga program that you can stream…for FREE!

Yoga with Adrienne keeps me in my yoga practice from the comfort of my own living room in the few minutes that I can manage to spare throughout my week.  From beginner videos, 30 day challenges, 10 min or 40 min videos there is pretty much anything you could ask for!  I love the quiet moment when I put my daughter to bed, the kitchen is clean and I can grab my mat and turn on a quick video and wash the day away with stretching, breathing and a serious muscle workout!

A tip that I got from a lovely friend who is on the way to starting her own yoga practice as a teacher – Energize your day and start your morning with a few Sun Salutations.  A simple flow of a few poses will fill you with energy and peace (I know these are opposites but it strangely is true!).  You can find these through Yoga with Adrienne or simply on YouTube!

Do yourself a favour and try some yoga!  I rolled my eyes at it once and now it is such an important part of my life.  Give it a few classes or videos and see what it does not only for your body but for your mind as well. (Plus it gives me a fab excuse to live in yoga pants!) In a world where we are always on the go, bombarded with negativity and social pressure, and have the highest expectations of ourselves and others it is a great way to escape, to reset and to reevaluate.

And don’t forget to share your favourite yoga videos, flows, and workouts!

I used to feel the exact same way about yoga! I thought it was all stretching, breathing, and meditation. I was so wrong! It’s such an amazing workout that builds strength inside and out <3

I tried yoga once and hated it!! But now I think I need to take another stab at, because my sister was just certified as a yoga teacher! Maybe I’ll do better with her as my guide 🙂 Love this look too!

Thanks for sharing! I’ve never tried hot yoga before, but it’s great you enjoy it so much! Thanks for sharing the program you’ve used at home too, it sounds like fun 🙂

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend! It will be a quieter one here as we are all a little under the weather unfortunately, winter bugs have hit!

I really need to give yoga another try. I could use the increased flexibility.
