The Best boots for Winter

Okay guys, fall is here but let’s face it – winter is on its way.  That means soon we will be trudging through snow and trying our best to stay warm.  I don’t know about you, but I struggled for years to find the right boots to keep my feet toasty warm on those snow days without looking like big foot, or without them falling apart before the snow even melted.

SO, I am rounding up my fav cold weather boots and booties for you to stay warm and stylish all winter long!

1 – Hunter Boots with Socks

If you are coastal then you know that winter is all about rain and slush.  No Uggs are going to last you more than 2 days without being eaten up by salt and leaving your feet soaked.  Practical is where its at, and Hunter Boots are just that.  Wear them year round on rainy days, but come fall and winter add in some cozy socks!  The fun thing about Hunters is that you can get a pair to match your outerwear.  I am in love with the plum and wine colour they come in, but have navy to match my winter jacket.  The socks come in a variety of different colours and textures too so you can mix and match depending on what you are wearing.   They may seem like a pricey rain boot, but I can promise you that you will be wearing them for years to come.

2 – Sorels

I made the investment in Sorel Boots 4 years ago and I will never go back!  There are a couple different styles that I love and that will work so well for cold weather.  What I love about Sorel boots is that they truly are waterproof.  They stand up to the cold and wet weather and their quality is amazing.  I have the SlimPack Riding boot from 4 years ago and they still look fantastic.  These are boots that I don’t mind running errands in or going out to the mall in.  They are warm and cozy but aren’t too big and bulky.  The Conquest Boots are a similar version and super cute and warm without the bulk. I love how Sorel has made a few tailored boots that give you a little more style.

If you like the fluffy fur look, you need to try their Tofino pair.  They are a slimmer fit than the traditional Joan of Arctic boots and give you that ski-lodge vibe.

3 – Blondo

A Canadian brand who gets winter, their shoes are all made waterproof!  If you are looking for cute booties to wear out for dinner or to the mall and don’t want the bulk of a boot, these are such a great option.  They are not going to keep your feet warm through an entire Santa Claus parade, but they will keep them dry while you run around town.

4 – Kamik

A boot that is good for -32 degrees? Sign me up!  These Kamik boots are right on par with Sorel quality and warmth but at a better price point, plus they are a Canadian family company so they get what it means to have warm feet in the winter.

5 – Uggs

I know I said in the beginning that Uggs won’t last you.  Here on the east coast with all our rain, salt, and slush those well known suede slipper boots get destroyed within a day.  Luckily they have stepped up their boot game and have the cutest everyday winter booties!  These cute booties would be adorable for just running errands, plus the sheepskin gives me all the cozy vibes just looking at it!   They are on the pricey side for booties, so they are a splurge but they are just so darn cute!  Plus, they are waterproof, so even us coastal gals can cozy up in them!

The key elements to look for when searching for a great winter boot is quality, warmth and durability.  Are they waterproof?  Are they insulated?  What material are they made of?  After years of resisting, I fully believe in spending the money on a great pair of winter boots.  It is an investment for your feet.  There is nothing worse than finding a cute pair of boots that only last half the season and then having to start all over again.  I know that all of these boots will stand up to our harsh winters.  If you take care of them well (I like to wipe mine down with a damp cloth once a week to get rid of all the salt build up) they will last you years!

I own a pair of Sorel boots that my hubby got for me and I agree they are amazing! I do want to get another pair even though the ones I own look unused! It’s because the size my hubby got was a little too big so as much as it is cozy when I am not trudging along, my feet slips every so often and that is annoying! I own a pair of Blondo booties as well and I am impressed! I love mine so much that I practically live in them during the cooler months. Those Hunter boots are on my wish list. It doesn’t rain a lot where I live so I haven’t been able to justify owning one. 🙁
