I know, I know, I talk about basics ALL the time. You know why? Because they make up 80% of my wardrobe! Having a closet packed full of everyday basics does not mean a boring wardrobe. It means you have SO much versatility! It is all in how to style your basics to really make them a finished outfit.
My go-to basics are jeans, tanks, tees and cardis. When you style your basics with accessories, your outfit possibilities become endless!
Of course, being a stylist with Stella & Dot has its perks and I rely on jewels to dress up an outfit. A statement necklace doesn’t seem like too much when you pair it with a simple high neck tank and jeans. This Alay Necklace is my fav. It is structured and has a variety of mixed media to really give a simple outfit some texture and visual interest. Plus it is made of every neutral I love – grey, brown, blush and cream. I tend to be more delicate with my jewel choices, so this simple crust cuff is the perfect piece to tie the look together.
Mix up how you wear your basics. I am a big fan of a front tuck or knot. It just makes your basics seem less, well, basic! A simple tank can have so man looks when you change the way you wear it. A full tuck, a font tuck, layer it over a dress or knot it for a cropped look with high waisted pants!
Have fun with your accessories! I just love this soft woven bag from PinkStix. It gives the perfect amount of texture and fun to my everyday outfit. Find a bag that has visual interest with its texture or pattern. Try a bold print, or some classic stripes. Another thing I love about this bag? Not only is it a cross body which makes running errands easy and leaves me with free hands for my curious and wandering pre-schooler, but the strap detaches to make it a great clutch! Hello easy day to night look!
