Spring Mani

Ok, so ignore all that white stuff on the ground because, believe it or not, spring is here!  It may not feel like it yet (at least here in Eastern Canada) but spring styles have sprung.  This time of year always has me wanting to refresh my wardrobe and bring out the pastels and fun colours.  You may not be able to wear that adorable spring dress & sandals, but one way you can transition to spring even with all that snow on the ground is a cute spring mani!

I’m sharing my fav spring mani colours to get you in the season!

If you asked me a year ago if I ever did my own nails I would have laughed at you.  I LOVE to get a shellac mani at the salon.  They always look fab and they last for weeks…but they can also get pricey if you get them on the regular.  With my job and being a mom, my hands are always being washes constantly so a regular mani just chips after 2 days (that is of I can even wait long enough to let them dry without smudging them!)

I was so happy when I came across Essie’s Gel Couture polishes. I admit, I was sceptical at first.  Sitting still to let my nails dry was never my forte.  First of all, the brush is a dream!  It is wide enough to cover the majority of the nail in one stroke, and the stem is twisted just like the bottle which keeps the polish from dripping down the brush (because we all know that glob of polish dripping down onto your nails just when you thought you had it perfect always resulted in pure disaster).  Secondly, the polish goes on so smooth.  It settles out well and even has great coverage with the light colours.  My fav thing about the polish?  It dries SO fast! It has a great shiny, gel feel that looks exactly like a usual shellac mani.

Two coats is all you need, followed by the clear gel top coat.

I love to switch up my nails for the season – dark mauves, plums and burgundys in the fall/winter and gorgeous soft pastels and pinks in the spring/summer.

Here are a few of my fav Essie colours for this season that will have your Spring Mani looking fab!

Lace Me Up – the softest pink is perfect for those who love neutrals.  It is a timeless colour and will never go out of style. Even though I love switching my colours with the seasons, this is one that is so perfect you could wear year round.

Princess Charming – I love a great mauve! It just gives a rich feel and this light shade is spring perfection!

Sage You Love Me – Now I usually stick to pinks on my nails.  I love the other colours on people but I just never think I could pull them off.  THIS colour, however, just calls my name.  Maybe its my new love for that natural earthy vibe but this soft sage is so sweet and the perfect pastel for spring.

Take Me To Thread – I warned you about my love for Mauve.  This taupe spin on the colour is neutral heaven!

Style In Excess – This icy steel colour is pastel dreams! A purple that verges grey is a fun play on colour!

I’ve linked the polishes for you (there are a ton of places to grab them including Amazon!), but if you are in Canada, run down to your closest Shoppers Drug Mart to pick some up and have fun getting that mani ready for spring!

XO

I love Essie polishes! They’re nearly the best ones. But I never tried the gel ones, I definitely should. This mauve color is absolutely my fave!

Aren’t they gorgeous for spring? I was never one to paint my nails, and if I did it was a simple french manicure but I am really having fun with these soft tones.
