Did you know that by the end of this month the sun will be shining all the way until 7:40pm? Spring is on its way and I am so darn excited for warmer weather and more sunshine. This time of year can feel a little heavy, especially here in Canada where we know that snowstorms are still on the radar, so I love to use this month to transition into spring decor. It helps to lighten the mood and reminds me that we are almost there! Start with a place you see as soon as you walk in the door and refresh your entryway for spring!
Having a console table is great way to add decor to a small space and is the first place I start when I refresh my decor.
*My biggest tip when restyling an area is to clear it off completely so you have a blank canvas to work with*
1 – Start with your biggest piece
Using a large mirror or artwork hanging over your console table will really give your entryway style a focus. I keep this frame up year round but swap out the print for a change. I love this vintage style spring and its soft pastel tones for the season. Here are a few other great print ideas to hang in your entryway for spring.

2 – Add some height
Lamps and vases can be used to create some height in your space. Spring to me means fresh blooms and soft colours so I started with a tall vase and some faux mini daisies. If you want a pop of colour try some Forsythia stems (if you have the stubs in your area you can even take some cuttings and force some early blooms indoors).
3 – Balance
Balance is so important in design. It doesn’t have to be a mirror image from one side of the table to the other but it should look even. Try using 2 layered frames if you have a mirror hanging above, or stack some books with a cascading plant on the other side of the table. A vase would look great if you are balancing a lamp. I used this vintage crock that compliments the soft feminine look of the daisies.
4 – Layer in your style
Now you can layer in your favorite styling pieces. That candle you love, your DIY papermache bowl, wooden knots or a dish as a catchall for keys and sunglasses. I used some stacked books, a candle holder and these gorgeous wooden casa beads for some texture.
5 – Anchor the space
If you have an open console table, anchor the space with baskets, pillows or plants. These can be functional with a basket for slippers, hats or mittens. Or they can just be pretty. Try placing a throw pillow or blanket inside to give it a lived-in look. Have a small space under your table? Try a single basket and your rubber boots next to each other. It is spring after all and you’ll be using those boots on the regular!
