I don’t know why, but our master bedroom is always at the bottom of my list when it comes to decor. Maybe because it’s not a space that everyone sees. It is, however, a space that I am in every day so having a calm, relaxing, styled room makes such a difference. I have been slowly adding decor to our new home (like in our kitchen, our play room and even our pantry) and it was time to give our bedroom a little refresh.
Art work can really transform a room and give it so much style. Since we moved in a year ago we simply put together our bed, found some bedside tables and leaned a full length mirror on the wall. That’s it! Of course, I had been putting the room together in my head. I like to create a mood board / vision board of each room in my house to allow me to fully see the design and style that lives in my head. It also helps me stay on track when buying pieces for the room! I knew I wanted some big frames to hang over the bed so I searched Opposite Wall‘s prints and found the perfect pieces that fit my vision board!
My vision board for the master bedroom
I love all of the unique, trendy prints from Opposite Wall and kept copying & pasting prints into my vision board until I found the right combination. It is such an easy way to help create flow for a gallery wall, or when hanging multiple pieces of art. Ordering the prints, along with their natural oak frames blew me away with the difference it makes in our room.
I still need a rug to bring in some colour and texture and a new duvet cover to go over our Endy duvet. Bamboo blinds for the windows beside our bed are on my list too, but I have yet to find the right size. It is a process to put together a room and it takes time. Don’t rush or just buy something to fill the space. It is okay to live with a partly done space! It will make you appreciate every step of the design process when you wait for the pieces you really love.
Don’t know where to start?
Try starting with artwork that catches your eye. I loved the earthy tones in the abstract print, and the two sketch prints bring a soft vibe into the room. Use those pieces to build on and pull colours into the space. Greenery always adds a fresh feel and instant life to a room. Fill your vision board with pieces you love, taking out and adding things as you go along until you find the perfect mix.
