How To Get a Week’s Worth of Outfits with 5 Pieces

I get SO many people who tell me they LOVE the 5×5 style challenges!  Well, you are in luck because, if you weren’t following along with me on Instagram, I just finished another one and am here to share my looks!

Are you new to the 5×5 style challenge? You can check out my previous ones here, here and here.  The premise is all about making the most of your wardrobe and being creative! Pick 5 pieces from your closet to create 5 different outfits.

This style challenge was all about basics.

I have been talking a lot on how to overhaul your wardrobe and how to keep your wardrobe on budget .  With that comes the importance of basics.  These are pieces that are your go-to in your wardrobe.  They are easy to wear, they are often plain and they can be mixed and matched readily.

My basics this week?

  • Comfy denim
  • Distressed black jeggings
  • A graphic tee
  • A white tank
  • A comfy sweatshirt

With just these pieces I was able to create great outfits that could take me from my errand-running-mom Saturdays to an easy casual date night out! When you stock your wardrobe with basics, it allows you room for fun accessories that will do SO much to change the look of each outfit.  Shoes were the biggest help for this challenges as I wore 4 pairs for 5 looks.  Simple earring change and some red lips can also take your daytime look up a notch for a great casual date night look.  Which outfit is YOUR fav?

Easy Errands

I love how a denim jacket takes a basic outfit and makes it stylish! (Stay tuned for a post on how to wear this jacket 3 ways!)  This is a go-to outfit for me.  Super easy and casual, making it perfect for running errands.  Knotting a tank or tee is a big way I like to mix up my basics!  I am in love with the straw bag trend this season and this one from my Stella&Dot boutique is so cute with its pompoms!

Graphic Tee

It wouldn’t be a style challenge without a graphic tee.  If you know me, you know these are my fav!  This bamboo tee from C’est Moi Clothing is butter soft and oh-so comfy!  Just add some cute slip on sneakers and earrings for a fun pop of colour and your outfit is made!

Just Add Heels

How do you take a basic outfit and make it special?  Just add heels! I would wear this tank and cardi with leggings for a casual vibe, but to dress it up a bit I love to add a comfy pair of wedges and some jewels.  Basics don’t have to be boring – instead think of them as a blank canvas with SO much potential!

Comfort First

Who said sweatshirts are just for lounging lazy days? I love pairing the unexpected – an oversized sweatshirt with heels.

Date Night

Basics can take you from day to night so easily.  Use your accessories and makeup to transform a look into something date-night worthy!  I kept a monochromatic look for a sleek casual date night vibe and simply added some red lips for a bold look.
