With 1.5 years in our new home we still have spaces that we have yet to tackle with decor. It is a process that takes time but our front entry was the next on my list to complete. A front entrance is where you make the first impression in your home. It sets the stage for guests coming in and I wanted a cozy, welcoming feel.
I had painted my front door earlier in the summer. If you follow me on IG you know that I couldn’t decide which colour to choose and that this door went from white to pink to black. I love the idea of a painted door because it can instantly add character and personality to the space. I really wanted to love the pink, but after sitting with it for a few weeks I realized that it just didn’t tie in with the rest of the space. That is the beauty about paint – you can change it so easily! It cost under $30 and just a bit of time and I had the pink painted over with a classic black.
Since our home is filled with white walls I wanted to warm up the space. I fell in love with this rug from Loloi! It has the perfect tones to pull in the black door but warm it up with all its neutral tones.
There are some other options that I was playing with and would be great neutrals for any space
I love the idea of a console table in the front entry, but we are also very minimal with our decor so this table from HomeDepot was the perfect piece. It is simple with clean lines and the perfect width to add decor but not take up too much space.
Like with my kitchen shelf styling, I started with a big focal piece to style this front entry table. I am loving vintage artwork right now but it can be so hard to find. One art hack that I have found is printable downloads! I have used them before and they are such a great way to make gorgeous artwork affordable. Instead of being sent the piece of art you simply purchase the downloadable file (it comes in multiple size options) and print it at your local print shop. I bought this one for under $15 and had it printed at staples for under $30. I already had the frame so I only spend $45 to have this gorgeous piece of vintage art work for my entryway.
Keeping with the vintage theme, I grabbed this vintage crock I found at an antique shop in NB and filled with faux stems. The great thing about faux or dried stems in that you can rotate them as the seasons change to update the space and just store your offseason stems.
I gave myself a budget for this space so I shopped my house and grabbed these stacked books and plant off my coffee table and a vase off my mantle to balance the front console.
Balance is always on my mind so after I styled the console table I stepped back to see what was missing. I needed something to go on the wall with my rubber tree but I didn’t want more artwork. Adding in new shapes and textures helps your space flow so I knew I wanted something other than a squared frame. I grabbed this cute peg rack to help bring in a cozy vibe. Then I swapped out my cactus print for a DIY yarn wall hanging!
