Everyday Makeup

Let me start off by saying that I am by no means a beauty blogger, but I have recently stumbled on a few products that I absolutely love and that make my everyday makeup routine that much easier!

My everyday makeup routine

Finding the right foundation is a great place to start. One of the lovely ladies at Sephora colour matched me and I was shocked the find out that the right colour was much lighter than what I had been using. I instantly fell in love with Two Faced Born This Way formula because it is so creamy and has amazing coverage – that means that one bottle lasts so long! Ivory is my colour, which leaves my skin with a great neutral pallet.

** TIP ** Pick a foundation that matched your neck perfectly. It may seem light at first, but once you use your blush and bronzer you will bring back the perfect amount of colour into your skin for an easy everyday makeup look.

I put my foundation on with a beauty blender. Make sure it is damp! It took a while to get used to it, but tapping your foundation in helps it set where as rubbing it in often rubs the product right off. I use the bottom of my beauty blender for my foundation and the tip of the blender for my concealer.

Concealer is up next! Dab the product under your eyes and tap it in with the beauty blender. I make sure to get under my eyes and then use it on my eyelids as well. This helps to brighten my eyes and is a great base for when I wear eyeshadow.

I struggled for a while with blush and bronzer. There are so many shades and I couldn’t find one that didn’t make me feel orange. I stumbled on this gorgeous palette and I am in love! (The second smaller compact is a similar colour and style if you are just looking for a blush!) The warm, soft tones are the perfect way to brighten your face and give it the glowing colour you are looking for.

This palette does it all. I start by mixing the highlighting blush and the blush together and tapping it along my cheek bone. Then I take the bronzer as a contour underneath, on my temples and sometimes to contour my nose. Finally I use the highlighter under my eyes, under my eyebrows and along the tip of my nose.

** TIP ** Start your blush at the apples on your cheek and work back along the cheek bone. Start your bronzer in the hollow of your cheekbone and start from your ear and move forward.

Eyebrows are an easy way to really define a face, so don’t forget to fill them in. I love Anastasia’s brow pot. It is a cream that you apply with an angled brush and it lasts FOREVER! The colours are dark, so pick a lighter shade than usual. With my dark brown hair I chose Taupe and love it!

I use an angled brush and get the bristles damp. I find this helps make a very thin line. Start by lining the bottom of your brows to create the shape you want. Use light brush strokes to give it a more natural look. Then line the top and fill it in. You can use a spoolie to brush the product through at the end for a flawless finish.

Mascara is my go-to! It is the everyday makeup product that makes the biggest difference and makes me feel pulled together. I recently was gifted the Marc Jacobs Velvet mascara and primer and couldn’t wait to try it. The primer nourishes your lashes and helps to plump them up. Put a coat of primer on your lashes first. Don’t let it dry, but quickly apply your mascara on top. Some people say the primer helps lengthen your lashes and makes them more voluminous. I do find a difference when I use it, but most of all I find my lashes don’t get crispy or flakey with it and feel so healthy when I remove my makeup.

One eye done shows the difference! It makes my eyes look wider, more awake and finishes the look perfectly.

** TIP ** If you are not into a two step process, two other mascaras I love are from Lancome and Two Faced. These two are great products that can be layered for an easy everyday look or for something more dramatic.

A final swipe of lipstick or gloss finishes the look! I love a simple nude or pink for everyday to keep it natural. (I have a blog post coming soon on how to find the perfect nude!)

A quick swipe of glass finishes the look

My makeup routine takes me less than 10 minutes in the morning and is the easiest way that I feel pulled together and ready to conquer the day! I am not a professional and probably still could learn a trick or two but working with quality products helps. I would love to know, what are your must-have beauty products?

I love the “quick” in your tutorial. I’m kind of a hit and run with my makeup because I just don’t have that kind of time usually. I also really appreciate the section on using bronzer. I have some but never really knew how to use it and now I do! I totally agree with you on mascara – it’s the one thing I can’t live without. I was gifted some at Christmas a couple of years ago and I just loved getting it. Thanks for sharing and your pictures are lovely!

Love hearing about your makeup routine! I see several products I use in here! Laniege, Lancôme mascara, and that beauty blender are all lifesavers! Also, I am embarrassed to admit how long I used my beauty blender dry. It’s amazing the difference when using a damp sponge!

Oooo I love how that mascara totally added volume and length to your lashes! It looks amazing and I can’t wait to check it out. I agree that filling in the eyebrows really help make me feel put together. It is my go to for everyday along with a little bit of concealer.
