I always tell my husband that if I could have one wish, it would be for a personal chef to cook my dinner. I mean, please tell me that I am not the only one out there that dreads that question “What’s for dinner?”. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really enjoy cooking. But what I DON’T enjoy is the prep – the planning of what to make for dinner, making sure that those ingredients are in my house on the day I want to make that for dinner, and then rushing home from work to realize that I forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer to make said dinner.
Enter the wonderful world of subscription boxes. Whoever invited this concept is brilliant and must have been some mom who was just SO tired of having to think up new dinner ideas & shop for the groceries. I mean, who has time for that? It is on my to-do list but so are 1000 other things.
I found Chefs Plate – a Canadian recipe-delivery service – and decided to give it a go!
I have a code for YOU to use to get your first 3 PLATES FREE!
What I LOVE about Chefs Plate is that you can choose the recipes that you want! That is great for my family because I am gluten-free. There are 7 different recipes to choose from each week, which gives you tons of variety. You can review each recipe, see what ingredients are in it (it also lists clearly if it is gluten free, dairy free or vegetarian), and see the time it takes to cook each meal.
Since my daughter is only 2 and often turns her nose up to anything but chicken nuggets (ugh!), we went with the 2-person plan and had 3 meals sent to us.
I was SO happy to see the box sitting at my front door when I got home. The box is insulated, so it sat on my doorstep all afternoon but everything inside was kept at a great temperature. Each recipe was individually bagged with its ingredients, with all meat on the bottom surrounded by ice packs.
I LOVED that Chefs Plate actually uses Canadian products! It is so great to know that your food is being locally sourced and, therefore, is fresh!
This box made my week SO easy. The recipe cards are really descriptive and even give you photos to follow along. The recipes took me a max of 30 mins to prep and cook and were SO delicious. It was great to try some recipes that were not in my usual weekly rotation.
I tried the Steak & Frits with roasted tomatoes, the Vietnamese lettuce wraps (these were my favourite!!), and the Chicken Tetrazini (I just boiled my own GF pasta and let my hubby eat the fresh linguine!).
The subscription makes it easy to either select your meals for the next week ,or to skip that weekly delivery. And of course you can cancel all together at any time with no penalty fee.
I really loved this recipe-delivery system and will absolutely be ordering it again!!
If you missed it at the beginning, here is a discount code for your first 3 plates FREE! I would love to know which recipes you order and which are your favourites.
