Affordable Artwork

If you are anything like me you have a few frames hanging around that you bought with every intention of filling them but have just yet to do it. Photos and artwork can really bring a space together but it can be so hard to find the right piece. Ive gathered my favourite sources for you to get great affordable artwork in almost any style you are searching for!

The digital world has become our friend and has allowed us to get practically everything with a single click, including artwork! I have been hooked on the concept of digital prints – purchasing a digital file of a print that you can print at your local printshop. The reason why I love digital prints? They are so darn affordable! You can often purchase the files for under $15 (watch out for bulk sales or email sing-up discounts). Although your boutique photo shops will charge a steep price to print your photos, Staples and Costco do the job just as well.

Tips for printing your digital art

  • Don’t be afraid to ask the seller to resize the image to fit the frame of your choice. I asked to have this landscape image resized to fit in a vertical, portrait frame.
  • Always choose a matte finish on a posterboard. This will give your artwork a high quality look without any glare.
  • Save by printing a smaller size photo and a matted frame. If you need a 16×20 frame for your space, use a mat with an 8×10 opening.
  • If you have the option, vintage prints looks best on recycled or textured paper.

Okay lets get to it! My fav affordable artwork by category:

1 – Vintage Prints

Vintage prints are very in right now but I cannot afford to have a real one! Here are some great digital print options. I love that some vendors have made it easy and created a gallery collection for you. You can use these pieces together for your own gallery wall or simply use them throughout your home for a consistent look.

2 – Photographs

If you love photography but don’t have the skills or the means of travelling to capture the photos yourself, here are some places to get those drool-worthy photographs. The sky is the limit when it comes to digital prints, which is one reason I love the concept so much. Looking for architectural prints? Botanical prints? Crisp landscapes? You can find them all

3 – Abstract / Mid Modern Century

I have always had a love of abstract prints which is why I think I gravitate towards the fun mid-modern century style prints.

These are so easy to find as digital prints, but if you are looking to have them printed for you, along with great frames, check out Opposite Wall. My mudroom photos and bedroom photos are from there and I love how easy it is to match prints and frames all in one stop.

It is the easiest way to get the look you want for your home without breaking the bank. You can easily swap out the prints with the change of season to keep your design looking fresh.
