Add Personality to your Laundry Room

Take one look at my IG and my home and it is no surprise that I like soft neutral decor. But I do have a thing for bold prints and a pop of fun. How do you mix the two? Use bold prints or colours in small, dedicated spaces like a powder room or laundry room. They are often hidden spaces that won’t interfere with your main living area decor. So add some personality to your laundry room! I am sharing how I did with just a few steps.

Paint is one easy way to add personality to your space. It is inexpensive and can easily be changed down the road. Try painting an accent wall or the ceiling to make the room stand out. Wallpaper is another great way to add print to the space. The only downside is that is can be expensive and difficult to install.

My favourite way to add some style into your space is wall decals!

They give the same look as wallpaper but are so darn easy to install and can be removed without damaging the walls. I used the Fall Leaves from CoverTheseWalls in both the Muskoka and the Agathe and love the colour it brings to my tiny room. The decals are really easy to install. Cut out the individual leaves and use painters tape to tack them on the wall. I highly suggest this step because it allows you to move them around until you have a pattern you like. Once you are ready simply peel off the backing and stick it to the wall. I like to use a credit card or something smooth to help rub it onto the wall. Then peel back the top layer and you have yourself some gorgeous decals!

I added some baskets to the top on the cabinets to help fill in the empty space and give it some warmth. There is nothing in there right now, but that could be a great spot for keeping extra detergent, stain removers, etc so help keep the clutter out of the cabinet.

Personality to your laundry room

You know those loose socks that go rogue? I made a home for them on the peg rack. The mesh bag is a catch all for the lost socks or odds and ends that inevitably pile up on the dryer. It is a great spot as well to keep cleaning supplies on hand for easy access.

Having some personality in your laundry room may just be the answer to loving the space. I know that it makes me smile when I open the door or walk by. Now if only it came with a laundry fairy to fold and put all the clothes away.
